Creative Halloween Costumes
The best Halloween costume ideas are creative ones. Anyone can order a costume online – but how about going as an ’80s movie heartthrob? How about dressing up as a character from a cult classic, or going as a character that is immediately recognizable but that no one would think to do? That’s where gold is at. Go with a creative Halloween costume, not a boring one, and if you are running low on ideas, we’ve got your back.
Here are some creative Halloween costumes, all of which you can make at the Surplus Store.
Love the 80s? Love cheesy bromance? Look no further than Top Gun. This costume works on a lot of levels, not least of which is that everyone loves Top Gun. If you want to go with a more recognizable, classic look, go with the flight suit and aviators. The best part is that you can go as any of the boys – Maverick, Iceman, Goose, or even Merlin (since no one remembers Tim Robbins was in that movie).
If you are feeling extra risqué – and you’ve got the body to pull it off – go with some of the boys from the beach volleyball scene and go shirtless! We’ve got the aviators, the jeans and the dog tags to pull it off. You’ll need to supply your own baby oil though.
If you like getting into character for Halloween, go with a military theme. Everyone remembers Drill Sergeant Hartman from Full Metal Jacket, and if you love the idea of going around parties screaming at people, it’s perfect for you.
If videogames are more your thing, go with a Resident Evil S.T.A.R.S. member or one of the classic protagonists like Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, or Chris Redfield. You can even go as some of the zombified characters!
Creative dead body or zombie ideas
It isn’t enough to be just a zombie anymore. You have to be creative with your Halloween costume. Why by a normal zombie when you can be a half-eaten military man or a partially devoured swat member? Be a survivalist that completely failed to survive with his gear still hanging in tatters off his body.
If you want to go with a corpse look, go with a hiker that plummeted to his death, or a boy scout that was mauled by a bear (we’ve got the patches for that). Be that guy from Saving Private Ryan with his guts hanging out or a redneck that didn’t survive the apocalypse.
Stereotypes and Iconic Looks
Maybe what you really want is to just dress up in a more classic way with a costume that is just fun and easy. The good news is that there are plenty of ideas for that.
If you love the classic American look, go as a Greaser like John Travolta. Cuff your jeans, tuck your shirt, and quaff your hair. You might prefer a slightly different look though, going for rockabilly or punk, which can be just as fun.
Or maybe you want to be a little lazy, and you want a one-size-fits-all costume. Buy overalls and be a redneck (up to you how skimpy to make this costume). Buy a poncho and become “I’m me but in a hurricane”.
Fun Ideas for Couples
Of course, you might also want to go with themed costumes. If you have trouble losing your partner, go as a rock-climbing duo, complete with short-shorts, big backpacks, and hiking ropes to tether you together. It might get tricky to navigate, but that’s half the fun!
The best part about these creative Halloween costumes is that you can do every single one of them with materials from The Surplus Store.
