LA Pride Weekend 2019 Prep and What to Know
We here at The Surplus Store hope everyone is enjoying Pride Week 2019 because we are! This year, the LGBTQ+ community bands together once again to be seen, be heard, and continue changing American culture. This year’s pride festivities, which are certain to draw hundreds of thousands, will be capped off by a day of celebration, love, and recognition through food, music, parades and other festivities. With the exciting and fun-filled events on the horizon, here are some tips and tools to make this LA Pride Weekend memorable.
Events to Attend
From June 8th to June 9th, along San Vicente Blvd. between Melrose Ave. and Santa Monica Blvd., several Grammy-award winning LGBTQ+ and allied performers, including Ashanti and Meghan Trainor, will take center stage for a music festival under the motto of this year’s theme — #JUSTUNITE. Also happening over the weekend, the first-ever “Pride on the Boulevard” will take place along Santa Monica Blvd. A night full of entertainment, vendors, rides, beer and art, the event is free to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Tips and Tools
With temperatures finally approaching the 80s this LA Pride Weekend, The Surplus Store wants to make sure you are prepared as you brace real LA weather, while still looking your best and most Pride-ready. A good umbrella is a great asset to have, and even though they are inconvenient to carry around and 80 degrees may not seem like much, three hours walking and dancing through the streets of West Hollywood under the beating sun will make you wish you brought one. Of course, The Surplus Store has you covered here.
Likewise, we also have a large stock of hats if you REALLY don’t want to carry an umbrella around—they’ll get the job done just as well. Or maybe your hair is too perfect to ruin with a hat, grab a bandana! Though perfect for festival-goers, our vast and diverse supply makes them effective and fashionable for LA Pride Weekend festivities.
